I learned HTML in 1995. My first web pages were live before Javascript was even released. I worked as a web developer for a few years back when web pages were mostly HTML and a little bit of CSS and Javascript. In the years following, when I was not working as a web developer, I continued to maintain a few website projects although I would not say I kept up with the cutting edge of web technologies.
Not long ago, I had the epiphany that leaving web development was a huge mistake and I have been working at learning wherever and whenever I can in an effort to get back to doing what I love. Working with computers.
In this blog, I hope to share some of my experiences in finding resources for self-directed learning, balancing learning with family life (I’m a stay-at-home-dad, and under my wife’s tireless direction, we am homeschooling my two children), avoiding pitfalls and wrong turns in learning, and anything else that I think may be relevant to someone trying to figure this all out on their own.
I welcome feedback to my posts, especially if I write something technically incorrect in any tutorial or explanation posts.
